Phil Mulryne acted for Mr F the claimant to pursue a claim following a road traffic accident.
The claimant was a pedestrian who was walking across a pub car park when a motorcar reversed into him causing him to be knocked into the air and landing on the ground bashing his head.
Mr F was not knocked unconscious but he was dazed, shocked and disorientated.
He was helped to his feet by passers by and ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital for observation.
He suffered from headaches which lasted a year and some bruising to his face and right leg which lasted for a similar period.
He experienced some ongoing pain and stiffness to his neck with some restriction in movement. He underwent physiotherapy treatment which improved his symptoms to the extent that within 12 months of the accident he had no pain in his neck and the only symptoms were some minor restrictions when he twisted his neck to a full extent.
He also experienced some psychological trauma and was recommended to have some counselling which he chose not to undertake.
When the claim was put to the other party insurers responsibility for the accident was admitted.
An offer of £5,000 was put forward to settle the claimant’s claim which was rejected and an increased offer of £7,500 was put forward which was accepted.
The claimant had not incurred any further costs and expenses following the accident.
